Information and communication technology (ICT( as a new technology provides many grounds and positions for education and as a device and tool to simplify and fastening education are used. Using new information technologies created new potential capabilities in education that are based on technology that using them in the process of learning-teaching is very influential. Power and development of this technology to direct teaching and activities of learning in educational affairs creates a new environment for learning that is called smart schools. Smart schools are of the main achievements of information technology development in education programs that its impacts not only have its effects in educational environments, but it will have a new development along with real experiences of students’ life and their future. Smart school is a practical and purposeful suggestion for applying the most developed new educational methods and scientific look to current situation educational system of Iran. Establishing smart schools is one of the appointed strategies in response to today’s new requirements. In these schools learning is based on individual speed, cooperative learning, self regulation, and connection of learning syllabus and the content of lessons are not only limited to print books, but it contains electronic books, multimedia software, learning tools, and information data bases. For personal differences of every student and different styles of learning some programs are prepared. Smart schools are new educational approach that by compounding information technology and curricula have main changes in the process of learning and teaching and this approach changes the function of teacher as a leader and not transferor of knowledge, and the function of student as an active member, innovative, critic, and cooperative instead of object and consumer of science and the system of evaluation as a process oriented not result centered.
